While the Atlanta Hawks were dealt a first-round exit by the Miami Heat in the NBA playoffs, their front office responded on Wednesday afternoon, acquiring All-Star guard Dejounte Murray from the San Antonio Spurs. Hawks NBA Title Odds: Shortened Post-Murray Trade
After pairing Murray with superstar Trae Young, Atlanta is +4000 at BetMGM Sportsbook to win the NBA championship while its Eastern Conference title odds are +2000. The Hawks boast the sixth-shortest odds to win the East — behind only the Celtics, Bucks, Nets, Heat and 76ers.
Keep in mind, the Hawks NBA title odds opened at +8000 when the betting market was initially released. It dipped to +6600 on Tuesday before their franchise-altering deal.

Dejounte Murray Trade Details
Adding the 25-year-old playmaker, who will shift from his point guard duties to more of an off-ball role, came at a steep price. Beyond unloading forward Danilo Gallinari, Atlanta will ship over its 2023 first-round pick (originally belonging to the Hornets), a pair of unprotected first-round picks in 2025 and 2027 and a pick swap in the 2026 NBA Draft.
As ESPN’s Zach Lowe pointed out, teams are rarely willing to hand out an unprotected pick — let alone two of them. But Murray certainly fills the Hawks’ glaring need for an elite perimeter defender.
