Future Arizona Sportsbooks High On Sun Devils For 2021 College Football Season

Posted By Derek Helling on July 14, 2021

Legal Arizona online sportsbooks aren’t live yet. We do know that a handful of potential Arizona sports betting apps have made deals for entry into AZ, pending regulatory approval, though. With that information, it’s possible to size up Arizona college football odds for interested bettors.

Although the full complement of eventual markets for the 2021 season isn’t yet available, some operators do have a number of futures live right now. The consensus is that Arizona State is in line to have a far better season than Arizona. In fact, the Sun Devils are heavy contenders for some hardware according to some oddsmakers.

How do Arizona college football futures look right now?

The potential future Arizona sportsbooks that have already announced market access deals are:

There is still room for many more operators, especially depending on the tenets of the final sports betting regulations. However, for now, this is the field. Some of these sportsbooks currently have more markets for the coming college football season in their active jurisdictions than others.

For example, WynnBet’s only relevant futures market is for the 2022 College Football Playoff winner. The book has Arizona State +10000 to win the national championship. Several of WynnBet’s competitors have lines on both the Sun Devils and the Arizona Wildcats to do the same. As of July 14, those lines are:

SportsbookArizona to win 2022 CFPArizona State to win 2022 CFP
Bally Bet+50000+15000
Caesars+50000+12500
FanDuel+25000+10000

The best available price on Arizona futures is and for Arizona State. Multiple books have lower-level futures markets live right now. Those include futures on division and conference titles along with totals on regular-season wins for both the Sun Devils and Wildcats.

Pac-12 futures for Arizona and Arizona State

Bally Bet and DraftKings both expect the coming schedule to be pretty dismal for Arizona fans. Both have the line on the number of regular-season wins for the Wildcats at just 2.5. Bally Bet also slots the line on Sun Devils victories in the regular season at nine.

That thinking leads to expectations for ASU to compete in the Pac-12 South division. In fact, the Sun Devils are FanDuel’s favorite to claim that division title in the upcoming season at +175. DraftKings has ASU slightly off the favorite pace at +220, currently naming USC as its favorite instead.

Both those books have Arizona with the longest odds to win the South division. DraftKings puts those odds at +4000 while FanDuel is even more pessimistic at +10000. Should ASU make bets on it to win the South pay off, then futures for the Pac-12 title game come into play. Right now, lines on both AZ teams to do that look like this.

SportsbookArizona to win Pac-12 championshipArizona State to win Pac-12 championship
Bally Bet+6000+500
DraftKings+8000+450
FanDuel+10000+400

The best available price across all sportsbooks on ASU to win the conference is , with Arizona’s best price currently at .

Why are sportsbooks so high on the Sun Devils’ chances to compete for a conference title this fall? For a clue, look no further than the 2022 Heisman Trophy odds at these sportsbooks.

Jayden Daniels figuring into the Heisman conversation

Obviously, last season was an anomaly, as Arizona State only played four regular-season games due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Arizona State quarterback Jayden Daniels still showed why he’s in the conversation for oddsmakers when it comes to college football’s most coveted individual award.

Daniels scored nine touchdowns in those four games, including five through the passing game. He only threw one interception and completed nearly 59% of his passes for an average of over eight yards per attempt. Daniels also averaged nearly seven yards per rushing attempt on over eight attempts per game.

After being sacked nearly three times per game in 2019, Daniels endured only six sacks in 2020. There are reasons for even more optimism around Daniels in the coming season if alleged recruiting violations don’t derail ASU’s season, besides the offensive line improvements. More experience along with transfers and recruits in the receiving corps might bring the passing game up a level, which would make Daniels’ Heisman stock rise.

Right now, FanDuel has him +3000 to win the trophy while DraftKings slots him at +3500. The best available Heisman price across all sportsbooks right now is . His performance will be key for other Arizona college football odds paying out or not. With the start of the season less than two months away, it’s time for bettors in AZ to start considering these markets.
