AFC Wild Card Opening Odds: Bills Vs. Steelers | 2024 NFL Playoffs
The 2023 NFL regular season is in the books. Sportsbooks rolled out opening odds for the NFL Wild Card round, including the Pittsburgh Steelers (10-7) at Buffalo Bills (11-6). The Bills opened as -7.5 favorites and the game with an over/under of 43 points. Despite a sub-par offensive roster, Mike Tomlin once again willed his team to a winning record. On the other side, the Bills were able to collect themselves to secure another AFC East title. Steelers at Bills kicks off Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET on CBS.

How The Bills Got Here
Josh Allen posted his worst production in a season since 2019, falling completely out of sync with Stefon Diggs by the end of the season. Turmoil appeared to riddle this team when things went sour, but the Bills ended up correcting the ship just enough to steal a Week 18 win at Miami and secure the AFC East. The Bills have a 7-2 record at home, a place they’ll play at least the first two rounds of the playoffs at. Should Baltimore lose, Buffalo hosts all three rounds of the AFC Playoffs.
Like the Chiefs, many teams envy the “disappointing” regular season the Bills had this year. If there’s one thing the Bills can boast over most teams in the playoff field, it’s postseason experience. And playing the games at home sure helps.
How The Steelers Got Here
A glance at the Steelers’ offensive depth chart would suggest a team fighting for top-five draft positioning. However, Defensive Player of the Year contender TJ Watt () and Pittsburgh’s stop unit led them to another winning season and playoff berth. With Kenny Pickett out for the year, it’ll likely be Mason Rudolph leading the Steelers into the playoffs. Rudolph has managed to get the ball to his receivers George Pickens and Diontae Johnson, also opening up rushing lanes for Najee Harris.
Pittsburgh now extends its postseason streak to seven of the last 10 years. Before the season started, Tomlin was a name brought up around hot seat discussions, but once again cemented himself as one of the NFL’s best. They won their final three games to secure a spot in the postseason – something considered outlandish just a month ago.
