Aaron Rodgers Injury Update: When Will QB Be Back And Return To Jets?

The Jets are still very much in the playoff hunt and could soon be receiving some Hall of Fame caliber help in the form of Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers tore his Achilles in the Jets’ season opener against Buffalo and initial fears were that the quarterback would have to sit out the entire 2023 – 2024 season. But Rodgers underwent a “speed bridge” procedure on September 13, and a return this season is still possible – so long as the Jets remain in contention. Jets fans and fantasy football owners are currently asking when will Aaron Rodgers return and be back on the field. We will deliver an update on Rodgers’ potential return below.

When will Aaron Rodgers return and be back with the Jets?
One of the biggest discussions in sports over the past few months has centered around when will Aaron Rodgers return and be back on the field for New York. Rodgers told Pat McAfee in early November that he would be back in “a few fortnights” and there is speculation that a late December return is possible.
Neal ElAttrache was the doctor who performed Rodgers’ surgery back in September. ElAttrache was the doctor who performed Achilles surgery on Cam Akers two years ago. The running back made a miraculous recovery from an injury that was long believed to be a season-long death knell as he was able to return in less than six months. Rodgers is aiming to return in less than four months, but it should be noted that playing quarterback and playing running back (like Akers) in the NFL is apples and oranges in terms of re-injury risk.
Here is a look at the Jets’ schedule around the time Rodgers is eyeing to make his return.
- Week 16 December 24: Commanders vs. Jets
- Week 17 December 28: Jets vs. Browns
- Week 18 January 7: Jets vs. Patriots
The Jets have already had their bye week, which occurred in Week 7.
