Atlanta United vs. Sporting KC Prediction, Odds & Preview

Atlanta Turning a Corner

The pressure was starting to mount on head coach Gerardo Martino, as Atlanta went seven MLS matches without a win from mid-May to early August.

However, United ended the winless streak with a hard-fought 2-1 victory against New York Red Bulls in its last game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The home side fell behind early on, but late goals from Tristan Muyumba and Fafa Picault turned the game around.

The victory over the Red Bulls was Atlanta’s first league triumph since the start of May, but they made it back-to-back wins in midweek. In-form Muyumba was the hero in Saint Paul, netting the deciding goal in a 2-1 success over Minnesota United.

No Wins in Four for Kansas

Kansas City’s form has gone downhill since back-to-back MLS wins against LA Galaxy and Austin in mid-May. The side has taken just one point from the following 12 on offer.

Still, after successive defeats to Los Angeles, Houston, and Colorado Rapids, the Wizards held St. Louis City to a 1-1 draw last time out. Calvin Harris scored a 55th-minute equalizer for City at Sporting Park.

Kansas’ away form has been poor this season, winning just two league games on the road. Worryingly for Raphael Wicky and his troops, they have lost eight of ten MLS away fixtures this year.

Head-to-Head Meetings

This will be the first league meeting between the pair since they clashed in February 2022. Back then, Atlanta secured a 3-1 home win against Kansas City, with Luiz Araujo, Dom Dwyer, and Caleb Wiley on target for the host.

Overall, they have squared off four times, with Atlanta winning two, losing one, and drawing one. Sporting’s only victory came in 2018.

Atlanta United vs. Sporting KC Prediction & Picks

Both teams are desperate for points. Atlanta is currently bottom of the Eastern Conference table, while Sporting KC props up the Western standings. United is three points above Kansas in the overall table.

After two wins in two, Atlanta is gunning for a third straight victory this weekend. The home team is the -145 favorite at BetMGM. The away win is available at +333, and the tie is +300.

The confidence is high at Mercedes-Benz Stadium after the back-to-back wins, and Atlanta should make it three in three against one of the worst away teams in this season’s MLS.

The home victory and both teams to score is a standout bet at +188 .

Our Prediction: Atlanta United Win & Both Teams to Score – +188, BetMGM

Atlanta United vs. Sporting KC Bets

In-form Muyumba has been Atlanta’s hero in recent weeks, scoring three goals in his last three outings for United. Before his recent purple patch, the Frenchman started the season with one goal in 17.

Muyumba was on target in the 3-2 loss at Philadelphia Union before finding the net against New York Red Bulls last weekend. The 29-year-old followed that up by hitting the winner in Minnesota in midweek.

Muyumba has stepped up when his team has needed him the most, and we can see the French midfielder getting on the scoresheet for a fourth game running this weekend.

You can get the tempting odds of +500 for Atlanta’s No. 8 to score anytime in this one.

Our Prediction: Tristan Muyumba to Score Anytime – +500, BetMGM
