Both the 76ers and Pacers have clinched NBA playoff spots and are currently seeded at No. 5 (Indiana) and No. 6 (Philadelphia) – respectively – in the Eastern Conference.
Both clubs have opportunities to improve positioning, as each is within two games of No. 4 Miami and within 4.5 games of No. 3 Boston in terms of closest targets. Neither the Sixers or Pacers can be overtaken by a team below them.
The Pacers notched solid wins in the two most recent matchups in this series. However, they enter the seeding games with two big injury question marks. Victor Oladipo, who’d originally stated he’d sit out the rest of the way, opted to play in scrimmages but has not announced an official decision on whether he’ll suit up moving forward. Star forward Domantas Sabonis, meanwhile, will definitely be out for Saturday’s contest. He left the Orlando bubble last week for treatment on the plantar fasciitis that’s currently plaguing him.
In contrast, the 76ers check in with a full array of weapons and a starting five that they’ve recently optimized with success. Shake Milton is now handling starting point guard duties, as he did in 16 of the 19 games prior to suspension of play in March. With the second-year guard rattling off seven straight double-digit scoring tallies before play stopped and Ben Simmons now shifting to power forward, coach Brett Brown has the luxury of bringing Al Horford off the bench. That boosts the offensive punch of a second unit that previously struggled with consistency.
