3M Open odds Dustin Johnson

For the second straight season, the PGA Tour heads to the TPC Twin Cities for the 3M Open. But this year the event will be played without fans in the stands or along the fairways in Blaine, located 15 miles North of Minneapolis.

The 2020 3M Open maintains its regularly scheduled spot on the Tour despite the COVID-19 health crisis and will be played July 23-26.

The 3M Open field includes 10 of the top 60 players in the current Official World Golf Rankings.

Top players in in the 3M Open

  • Dustin Johnson (4)
  • Brooks Koepka (6)
  • Tommy Fleetwood (12)
  • Tony Finau (19)
  • Paul Casey (25)
  • Bernd Wiesberger (29)
  • Erik van Rooyen (42)
  • Brendon Todd (52)
  • Bubba Watson (56)
  • Matthew Wolff (59)

Four players shot the lowest round of 62 at last year’s event, and that is something to consider when betting lowest round scoring. Those players were: Scott Piercy (Round 1), Matthew Wolff, Lucas Glover and Bryson DeChambeau – the latter of which will not be returning this year after finishing runner-up in 2019.

This week’s field is the weakest in terms of top-ranked players since the Tour reboot in mid-June. Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and Tony Finau opened as the betting favorites, listed between +1000 and +1400. Johnson gets the slight edge in odds despite missing the cut badly at last the most recent Tour event at The Memorial Tournament.

Tommy Fleetwood returns for his first PGA Tour event since the hiatus and opened at +1200 at FanDuel and +1800 at DraftKings. Paul Casey rounds out the five top-ranked players, sitting near +2000 after missing the cut by a stroke at The Memorial.

Last year’s 3M odds and results

Last year, Wolff won the 3M Open at +12500 (125-1 odds). He made Eagle on the 72nd hole to win by one shot over DeChambeau (+1400) and Collin Morikawa (+6000). Wolff was 20 years old and playing in the event on a sponsor’s exemption. He captured the title in just his third Tour start as a pro. Wolff returns to defend his title in 2020.

Other top 10 3M Open finishers in 2019 were: Wyndham Clark (+12500), Glover (+6000), Brian Harman (+8000), Sam Burns (+10000) and Troy Meritt (+15000). So consider players down the odds board without hesitation at the 2020 event.

Last year, Koepka (+800) was the 3M Open favorite followed by Day (+1000), Matsuyama (+1000) and DeChambeau (+1400). Matsuyama finished T7 while DeChambeau finished T2. Koepka and Day both made the cut but finished outside the top-60.

Recall that at the other comparable field and event, DeChambeau was +650 to win at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit. DeChambeau delivered as the heavy favorite to win the tournament.
