PGA TOUR golf continues on the California swing, as the 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in Monterrey, California, is next on tap this Thursday. Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, and Patrick Cantlay are the favorites among AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am bets this week, as John Haslbauer provides his favorite PGA TOUR picks among all the golf odds offered this week. Below, you’ll find the best odds across sports betting sites for each player.

The second Signature Event of 2024 is just about underway as the stars remain out in California. The action begins this Thursday for the 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am at Spyglass Hill and the famed Pebble Beach Golf Links.

Always susceptible to the elements on the Pacific coastline in Monterrey, this should be a fun event to rack with forecasts calling for winds upwards of 60MPH in tournament week. Wet conditions and high winds should call for heightened importance on scrambling around these small Poa greens, with skilled short-iron players best equipped to handle Pebble Beach.

Ahead, we’ll go through all the bets I’ve placed for the 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Weather will play a significant factor at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am this week, with constant rain and high-gusting winds forecasted throughout the week of play. The influence of weather has led me to side with a player pool that has proven past results in inclement weather conditions, placing even further emphasis on SG: ARG with high winds and tiny greens in play.

In terms of unit allocations for my card, it’s back to business as usual with a full card of exposure for the 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am while removing FRL bets. A limited field split between two courses is not the most conducive to finding betting value, so I’ve opted to roll my usual 0.5U stake into Prop bets for this week.

  • Outrights – 3.5U in to pay 25U each
  • Full Tournament Matchups – 1U in to pay out 2U
  • Props – 2U in to pay out 3U+ each

Max Homa

My Bet: +1900
Best Available Odds:

It’s no revelation at this point to point out that Homa is at his best in the state of California. Having already picked up four career wins across the Fortinet Championship, Farmers Insurance Open, and Genesis Invitational, it just feels like the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is due for a spot in Homa’s trophy case. His results are trending that way as well, as Homa has finished in the top-15 in each of his last three appearances at this event.

His form entering this year is hotter than ever before, on a streak of eight consecutive top-15 finishes leading in. And if conditions are as ugly and wet as the forecast calls for, he’s also proven he can thrive in the elements as demonstrated by his 2022 Well Fargo Championship victory in comparable conditions.

Justin Thomas

My Bet: +2800
Best Available Odds:

A winner on the bad side of the weather draw at the 2022 PGA Championship and a force in hurricane-like conditions at the 2022 PLAYERS Championship, Justin Thomas has established a weather-proof reputation, which is comforting in a week like this which has so much uncertainty in the forecast. Thomas has found new life post-Ryder Cup, as he carries a streak of four consecutive top-5s into this week. His ball-striking looks to have returned to vintage JT form, and he has shown over a large sample size across the California swing that Poa is his preferred putting surface.

Tommy Fleetwood

My Bet: +4000
Best Available Odds:

When I think of grinder or mudder conditions, my mind goes straight to Tommy Fleetwood. Though not a prolific winner on the PGA TOUR, Fleetwood has been remarkably consistent in coastal, windy conditions overseas, a credit to his crafty flighted ball-striking. Fleetwood bets to win tournaments have felt like lighting money on fire throughout his career, but a season that has started with wins from Chris Kirk, Grayson Murray, Nick Dunlap, and Matthieu Pavon is enough to make me reconsider Fleetwood’s win equity. He outdueled Rory McIlroy in his recent Dubai Invitational victory and has finished top-15 in five of his last eight international starts.

Hideki Matsuyama

My Bet: +7000
Best Available Odds:

When it comes to short-to-middle irons, few others in the field possess the long term consistency of Hideki Matsuyama. And of course, who could forget in one of the more recent examples of inclement weather conditions severe enough to pause play, Matsuyama emerged victorious at the 2021 Masters. You can always bank on a disrespectful betting number on Matsuyama, but I’ve seen enough encouraging results on the west coast swing from Hideki to justify an outright stake at these odds.

Sahith Theegala

My Bet: +9000
Best Available Odds:

Theegala continues to play his best when close to home in California, as evidence most recently by his first career PGA TOUR win at the Fortinet Championship last Fall. Once known for his elite approach and around-the-green upside, Theegala continues to improve in his third year on TOUR, as he now carries a streak of eight consecutive events gaining strokes off-the-tee. A comfortable putter on Poa greens, these odds are too good to pass up on a players as talented as Theegala.

Cam Davis

My Bet: +14000
Best Available Odds:

Davis’ odds have understandably dipped after a couple mediocre starts in the 2024 season. Even still, I’ve committed to a rule of only going to Davis on short, positional courses, where he has been far more consistent of a threat. Last year, Davis totaled seven top-15 finishes on short, positional courses. A talented ball-striker with spike putting upside who returns to Pebble Beach after a top-15 showing in his latest appearance, there’s plenty to like about Davis at this price.

Full Tournament Matchup: Scottie Scheffler > Rory McIlroy
My Bet: -110

If weather conditions are as ugly as they appear to be at Pebble Beach, then we should expect Scrambling to be at a premium, given the course’s minuscule greens and exposure to the coastline. Scheffler has established himself as the premiere Scrambler on TOUR and proved he can thrive in similar conditions when taking down the 2022 Arnold Palmer Invitational in extreme winds. This is not a knock on McIlroy; I’m just siding with the World No. 1 in conditions that accentuate his greatest strengths in this matchup.

Top-20 Finish: Eric Cole

My Bet: +188
Best Available Odds:

A top-20 machine up until last week’s speed bump at the Farmers Insurance Open, Pebble Beach is an ideal bounce-back spot for Cole to right the ship. I’d be far more bullish on Cole’s prospects to contend this week in calm “point-and-shoot” conditions; however, he’s proven to be a capable scrambler under challenging conditions, as demonstrated by his top-15 finish at the PGA Championship last season. A top-15 finisher at Pebble Beach last year, I’m not afraid to buy low on Cole’s value after a permissible missed but at Torrey Pines.

Top-20 Finish: Sahith Theegala

My Bet: +230
Best Available Odds:

It’s usually a good idea to back Theegala on any set up in California, but a second-shot Poa-based venue that places heightened importance on touch around the green is the ideal blueprint for Sahith. This is a great value for an elite talent who has slipped too far down the odds board to ignore.

One And Done

My Pick: Jordan Spieth

The second Signature Event of the year, there is too much prize money at stake to get cute with an OAD selection at Pebble Beach, so I’m fixating on the players at 20-1 odds or shorter. Given the uncertainty of the weather forecast and the randomness that can come with wave advantages, I’m going to shy away from using Scheffler or McIlroy in this spot. Of the next tier of elites, Spieth carries a “safe” trifecta of elite course history, great recent form, and a great course fit for difficult conditions that will require more of an emphasis on Scrambling.

Naturally, I would expect Spieth to be the most popular choice in OAD this week. Still, given his course history at The Masters and across the Texas Swing, I don’t expect his ownership to get entirely out of hand with so many other sensible opportunities to save him for down the line. If not Spieth, I would also consider playing Max Homa, Justin Thomas, or Patrick Cantlay in OAD this week.

Best of luck with all of your AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am bets!
