NFL Picks For $1000 Underdog Promo code: Thursday Night Football
Thursday Night Football puts one of the league’s most hyped teams to the test. The Jets have been semi-fraudulent so far this season, going 1-1 through two games and only barely beating Tennessee last week. Their defense is 22nd by EPA, which was supposed to be a strength. With the Patriots a surprisingly resilient 14th by EPA offensively, this game could be quite interesting.
Breece Hall Lower Than 67.5 Yards
The Patriots’ defense ranks 9th in EPA against the rush so far this season. The Patriots have yet to give up 50 yards to a lead running back so far this season. The weather in New York is clear. So there’s no reason to think the game script should go more run-heavy other than the fact that New York is a -6.5-point favorite.
Hall has yet to go over this number, as well. Yes, the Jets lost in Week 1 but they were never more than a touchdown down in Week 2 and Hall still didn’t break 60 yards. A positive gamescript will help, but against a staunch run defense the increase in usage might only make up for the decrease in efficiency.
Aaron Rodgers Higher Than 212.5 Yards
Look, as a jilted Packers fan and Democrat who is done with Rodgers’ schtick, I’m biased here. But the Patriots’ defense is too weak to pass up. The Patriots defense ranks 17th against the pass. I don’t expect Breece Hall to be useful as a rusher. The obvious path forward is for Rodgers to throw.
Yes, he hasn’t hit this number yet, but it’s also reasonable to think a QB who last played a full game in January 2023 before Week 1 might be rusty. It’s likely he has more to show than his mediocre counting stats so far. With Hall and Garrett Wilson, it’s also eminently possible Rodgers can get a big play after the catch.
Joey Slye More Than 1.5 FGs Made
Jacoby Brissett has been better than many people expected this season, managing to be 10th in Success Rate through two games. Part of the reason why, however, is a conservative approach to the job. He’s 28th in the league in Air Yards, which shows he’s throwing high-percentage, shorter routes. That’s great for getting the ball into field goal range and less great for actually scoring touchdowns.
The other thing making me think that the Patriots will at least be able to move the ball is the Jets’ defense hasn’t been all that was advertised. The Jets’ defense is back half of the league in both EPA and Success Rate. Even just in Week 2, the Jets were 12th in EPA against the Fighting Will Levises. Brissett should be able to get the ball in range a few times.
